Laminated glass is an assembly of one or more lites of glass and one or more interlayers, usually of polyvinyle butyrale or PVB. This glass is treated under 180 to 200 PSI (1,241 to 1,379 KPa) of pressure and temperatures of from 275º to 300º F (135º to 149º C). Once treated, these layers are permanently bonded together to form a single unit of excellent optical quality.
Applications:

  • Areas where the use of safety glass is called for, such as glass doors, sidelites and shower enclosures, mobile and fixed windows, balconies, elevators, sports stadiums, atriums, greenhouses, skylights and sloped glazing.
  • Display cases in stores, jewellers, museums and exhibition rooms.
  • Buildings in high-noise locations such as airports, high-traffic areas or busy commercial streets.
  • Store windows exposed to the sun.
  • Decorative wall treatments, interior or exterior advertising displays.
  • Glass floors and stairs :
The use of multi-layer laminated glass makes it possible to produce glass flooring or stairs. The thickness of the laminated glass used for these applications depends on the risk of fallout, the surface area and the design load.
