Ensure that the floor tile adhesive is completely set and the floor tiles are firmly fixed. Ensure that the joints are clean and free from excess adhesive, dust, grease or any other contaminates.

Care should be taken to avoid staining floor tiles when using Ultra flexible floor grout. This is especially applicable when grouting unglazed floor tiles, quarry tiles, natural stone and tiles with a matt glaze or textured surface. Check the potential risk of staining by applying the grout to a few tiles in a small trial area. If discoloration occurs apply a suitable proprietary sealer prior to applying the flexible floor grout and repeat the trial.

Mixing Flexible Interior/Exterior Wall and Floor Grout

Flexible Grout powder should be added slowly to clean water in a suitable mixing vessel in the following mix proportions; 3.5 parts flexible grout powder to 1 part water. Mix to a smooth consistency to provide a slump free easily workable mortar. The flexible grout mixture is immediately ready for use and has a working time of approximately 10-15 minutes at 20°c. Do not re-wet or add too much water as this will result in a weakening of the flexible grout and a tendency to crumble. Excess water may also lead to discolouration and efflorescence.

Flexible Tile Grout Application

• Ensure that the tile adhesive has fully set before applying flexible tile grout.
• Protect open joints from contamination and ensure that they are clean, dry and free from loose debris prior to applying flexible tile grout.
• Stir the flexible grout well and use a grout float to press the grout into the tile joints. The flexib;e grout must be pressed firmly into the joints to ensure all the joints are well filled and all air pockets are expelled. Work in small areas and remove as much excess grout from the tile surface as possible.
• Use a sponge or sponge board, dampened with clean water to clean the tile surface. Allow about 15 minutes for the flexible grout to dry a little before cleaning off diagonally across the grout lines.
• Wash down with clean water and sponge/sponge board to remove any dried grout film from the tile surface.
• Allow the flexible grout to fully set in the joints prior to polishing the tile surface with a clean cloth, or with clean water and a dampened sponge.
• Do not wet the tiles for at least 24 hours and avoid cleaning with highly alkaline detergents i.e. bleach for several days.
• Setting time of Ultra flexible floor grout is approximately 24 hours at 20°c .

Note:We strongly advise that you do not mix more flexible grout than can be used within a 20 minute period and do not re-wet.

Coverage

The coverage for flexible floor and wall grout may be calculated by using the following formula, where T= Tile and J = Joint

(Tlength + Tbreadth) x (Tthickness x JWidth) x 1.7

(Tlength + JWidth) x (Tbreadth + JWidth)

Example:

Mosaics = 20mm x 20mm x 6mm, 3mm joint: Coverage = 2.3kg/m 2

Tiles = 150mm x 150mm x 9mm, 5mm joint: Coverage = 1.0kg/m 2

Natural Stone = 300mm x 300mm x 10, 3mm joint: Coverage = 0.3kg/m 2

Flexible Grout Technical Data

Colours: Anthracite, Grey, Limestone, Sandstone & White
Joint Width: 3 - 8mm
Calculation: Add length & breadth of the tile together, multiply result by joint width, multiply by joint depth, multiply by the coverage figure (FlexibleGrout = 1.6), divide result by length of tile, I divide result by breadth of tile. This result is the material requirement in kg per m2.
Open Time: 15 minutes dependent upon temperature and substrate.
Set Time: 24 hours dependant upon temperature and substrate.
Storage: Airtight containers, store above 5°c and below 35°c. Protect from frost.
Shelf Life: 6 months in above conditions.
